Proud new ZJ owner
Hi guys/gals,
I've been lurking the site for a few weeks and thought it was time I registered. Until two weeks ago I had been driving a 2003 Mazda6 and was happy with it. Then I wrapped it around a tree. So, looking at vehicles I kept coming back to older XJ/ZJ's. I work for as a software developer for an automaker and when looking at cars in the range I wanted to spend (< $5,000) that pretty much eliminated the cars I help build (and trust). Reliability is important to me, and I had heard nothing but good things from Cherokee owners. Another factor, since I live in Ohio, winter can be ugly at times and I have a 25 mile each way commute.
So, I set out to find a XJ older than 2002 or a ZJ older than 1998. Turns out, the dealer market near where I live is pretty limited and I looked for weeks before I came across this one:
I went and drove it, the brakes have a little noise, it needs better tires, the front right suspension has a squeak and for some reason the drive belt is bypassing the AC compressor. Those small issues aside, it's been well taken care of, one owner who drove it in town, garaged it every night.
I pick it up in the morning. What do you guys think?
Oh yea...thanks for having me.=)
