Potential XJ owner, thoughts on a rig
Hey guys, as the title states, I'm thinking about picking up an XJ. My DD is a 2012 Mustang GT, so this would be an inclement weather / weekend offroad toy.
I'm currently looking at a 1994 Cherokee:
- Cherokee Sport 2 Dr, 4x4
- 5 Speed manual
- 112k miles
- 4.56 front and rear lockers
- Rubicon 5.5 Extreme Duty lift
- Custom fab rear bumper w/ tire carrier & rock sliders
- Pro fab front bumper w/ Warn winch
- Air compressor
- Warrior Products roof rack
- Line-Xed interior
- Removable doors
- Throttle on gear shift lever
- BFG KM2 (33 10x50) Mud Terrains w/ 2k miles
- New gas tank.
- 8-50W offroad lights
- CB Radio
It just had the trans serviced and master / slaver cylinders replaced about 1000 miles go.
Seller is asking $4,500, which I think it a fair price for all the kit.
So my question is two-fold:
1) Is it worth the price?
2) Is there anything in particular that deserves close attention on a mid 90s XJ before purchasing? For example, I know that there is a documented issue with the crank / cam position sensors, as well as the ABS wheel speed sensors for that year, but otherwise I'm not real sure. To be honest I'm a little nervious given than the truck's 17 years old, but I've heard thery're good up to around 300k miles...
Thanks,
Andrew

Hey Andrew. Modified/lifted jeeps aren't worth the money that were put into them, and have "usually" had the snot rung out of them. That being said, it is a little overpriced compared to a stock XJ. It's usually better to build it rather than buy it.
