Potential owner from atlanta
I may be an owner of a 95 cherokee 4x4 automatic this weekend.
Here are the details
-automatic
-dead transmission
-4x4
-missing front axles (she said she got it like that)
My friend checked it out for me and said he moved the shaft coming from the transfer case and it was clunking and sounded dry. The front diff was probably dry too.
I made an offer of $200 and she said yes. I can pick it up this weekend. I am new to jeeps but not new to cars. I am planning on doing a manual swap and replacing the front axles. I can do all the labor myself and it wont be a problem.
How much money am i looking into for parts? I saw that a manual transmission swap could cost around $500 for all the parts. What about the front axle? Do you think this is worth it?

Oh.. it is the 4.0.
And i think i meant to say front driveshaft. The shaft that connects the transfer case to the front differential. If this is missing does that mean the front differential is dry as well as the t-case?
And just for ****s and giggles here is my current ride. Im definitely keeping it but also wanted to do some offroading and possibly have the jeep as a daily driver.
