Portland Cherokee Gal
Hey there!
My name's Dirty Mollie, from Portland, OR, and I just got my first Cherokee. I've been a fan of the Cherokee since I first saw the opening chase scene in The Goonies (also a big reason I moved from Illinois to Portland.) I've wanted to Cherokee for years. I grew up in a Chrysler family (my Dad's retiring from Chrysler this April) and have owned Chrysler products for the last 15 years or so, but no Jeeps before.
I missed driving stick shift, and I always wanted four wheel drive (especially now that I'm here in the PNW) and so nothing but a Cherokee would do.
Mine's an 86 2.5l I4 with 5 speed and Renix TBI. The body was repainted dark green from the original 3D Silver Metallic. She's solid, dependable, and all mine and I love her to death. I'm a Zombie fan, so I intend on doing some light Zombie mods, but nothing too extreme. The electronics have issues (as I suspect most older Jeeps do) so I've got some work ahead of me. But it's solid, no major rust (the floor pans are solid) and I'm quite happy with her. I look forward to reading tech stuff and seeing people's builds and spending time working and fixing my own - I've named her "Serenity" after the ship in the tv show Firefly. She ain't pretty, she ain't got flash, but she'll run forever.
Thanks!
