Hey guys name is Joe been lurking for a week or so.Also Been looking at XJ's for a while as a Trail only rig. Well looks like I found one for 500 and am going to get it. So I been reading as much as I can to get ready. I have already decided gonna do a chop and already found some axles off a Ford f350. and I already have the tires(37 inch TSL's). I searched but couldn't find a suspension set up thread. is there somewhere I can get ideas for a 4 link or 3 link.
Some Info on my new to me jeep.
1987 4x4
120,000 on odometer
4.0
standard trans
4 door
P.O. says only problem is a valve cover leak.
Leather interior which will be all ripped out for build anyway.
just for the hell of it here is some pics of my Expy just finished and got her set up the way I want. just enough for a little offroad and still good highway and towing.

Be glad you didn't! I had an "exploder" before my jeep. Nobody told me that its common for their tranny's to go out around 125K.....new one costs over $3,000. The mechanic told me he see''s them all day long with the same issues....expensive!

Its actually a Expedition I needed something to tow and I Had one before that I was given by my sister, and well It was a beast in the mud and towing. So I always said I would buy another. But I am normally a chevy man. But cant beat 8 seats 4 wheel drive and 8000lbs towing capacity.
I really can't wait to get the jeep home though been getting the garage ready for this new project. Anyone know what axles come on a 2000 ford f350 4x4. I found a set of axles off one for $150 (with disk brakes).
And the girl I am buying it from just sent me a pic so I can post one. I will put much better pics once I pick it up.sorry about the quality!
