I own a 2001 jeep Cherokee sport nearly identical to this one, and I am currently looking to make some minor repairs and possibly significant repairs and modifications in the future.

Noob Questions.
1. Where would be a good place to order rims? any suggestions on choosing color and type of rim would be great! Stores that sell rims seem to have a terrible selection and mostly carry fancy rims.I have always like the black rims I see on jeeps of a similar color, But it seems only lifted or modified jeeps have the black rims.

2. The plastic piece attached to the glove box your arm rests on that makes it click shut snapped off. What is this called, and where is a good place to order another one, and non mechanical Cherokee parts in general?

~Huge thanks to anyone that braved this wall of text and could help me in anyway or point me in the right direction!

first...welcome....second, tirerack is a good relatively inexpensive place to order rims from, and as far as that little plastic clip, your best bet would be your local junk/parts yard...i bought mine for 3 bucks, they sell wheels too, i've seen aftermarket rims, and non-stock rims relatively cheap

For wheels I'd also look on craigslist or ebay aswell, and for little parts go to the junkyard.

welcome to here! :P Loads of info in this forum
x2 on the jy for the plastic clip... jus remember those doohickies are rather small... pocket sized even lol save the $3 for jy ball joints haha
rims.. black steelies all the way! I always see them sheets on cl. I wouldn't get the fake beadlock steelies like I did lol when people ask is they're real it's kind of a downer to have to tell them that they're fake lol!

Thanks for all the responses! I guess it is called a Center Console Latch, I ordered it here http://www.teamcherokee.com/Interior/index.html. I still have to choose some rims definitely want some real ones. Next I am going to try and repair the stereo system and replace the HU because the front speakers do not work, and also replace the external grey trim around the jeep since it is falling off.

for the trim i just took mine off after tryin to fool with it for about 2 weeks. but if you are trying ot keep em on dont use the stuff called "weld-it" its a glue. it says weather resistant. pfffsht. its made to be used on stuff thats never touched. jus sayin stay away from it

Hrmmm I never though of completely taking it off. Whats the point of it anyway to fall off and look crummy?I will get to see more nice paint instead.

Same rims here, only mine were a bit rustier. Didn't cost me anything besides sore arms and a worn out wire brush.

welcome, this is a great place to learn stuff from

and look at Summitracing.com for some black wheels
my brother and i always get the Crager Soft 8's, just a basic 8 hole black wheel, and looks good with any jeep(lifted or stock)

Those Crager Soft 8's are exactly what im thinking of getting. The company center cap sucks though could i knock it off and replace it with a jeep one? Or would nothing at all look fine?

ny_driver I saw that you went through and de rusted your jeep mine is not nearly as bad, but I would like to eventually do that and spray it with that rust paint. No joke just yesterday I asked a buddy why wouldn't car company's spray there parts to repel rust. I have very few tools and every one tells me not to put and effort into saving my jeep, so will see if it gets done. As for your suggestion I would probably destroy my tires and screw stuff up, I am also not confident enough with my coordination skills and would probably injure myself as well.
