Default Newb buying at auction.

Greetings folks! I'm looking into buying a car, and came across an auction. I'm really not sure about this method of buying. Can any of you folks share any car auction experiences? Whether good or bad, I'd like to hear/read from you.

Another thing, I've noticed some vehicles have rebuilt/salvage titles, is there any big deal buying one of those?

What do you folks think of it?

Unless I could get it really cheap, I would be leary of them. (the salvage titled ones) If you could find out why? Because I would much rather have a accident victim, than a car that has been through a flood. And after "Katrina" and such, there where a lot of them hitting the market. But it also depends on what you plan to do with it. And how much mechanical work, You might be willing to do!............................JMO!

1st thing 1st, you should inquire with your insurance company on how much an actual salvage car/suv will increase your monthly/premium. this is something to consider

2nd, judging by the looks of the pic provided on the site, the drivers side air bag was deployed. which leads me to think that it's prob been in an accident (might be minor damage that was prob repaired - but who knows). but for that vehicle & year to be considered salvaged seems pretty odd to me. it's not like the interiors all gutted out for insurance to label it as salvaged. body & paint seems to be straight.

you might want to find out more about why it's salvaged.

well... lets see here...

Primary Damage: MINOR DENTS/SCRATCHES

VIN: 1J8HR58267C571036 Vehicle: 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED Records: 25 records found in the CARFAX Vehicle History database

If it sustained enough damage then yes it would be very expensive repair. 10 grand in damage is a lot. Driver's side airbag to replace alone could run a grand or more.

Welcome to the site. The repair is as good as the body man. My dad has bought and sold quite a few vehicles over the years with salvage titles.

If the work has been done right, it should be fine.
