Man that roof looks rough. Up here in the Salt States we usually worry about the floors rotting out, not the roof's....

Personally I would pull the seats since its not a daily driver. you won't be needing them until it's patched up. It will make working inside the truck so much easier. Might as well pull the center console too because the bracket under the storage bin is likely broken...aren't they all??? Just make sure you soak the bolts in some Rust Penetration solution or Kroil or something a few days in advance as the seat bolts are likely seized. As for the fix, go to a local sunroof shop and see if they can up-size you to a larger aftermarket sunroof. That way you can cut it back to solid metal and enjoy a better view.

Actually. I took a second look, that may be an aftermarket sunroof already. Generally with a factory sunroof, they stamp a flat roof panel without raised sections afor the roof skid strips. Your roof has raised sections in front of the panel and staring immediately at the rear edge. Who ever pout it in, obviously didn't do a very good job sealing it or protecting the raw edge.

Welcome to the Lone Star state then. Austin's fun but I prefer the smaller city life. Sixth st is fun. If you hate crowds then avoid during the weekend but it's a nice chill spot during the week. You need to go to the Salt Lick in Driftwood, TX. Google map it. Depending in what area of Austin you live in could be about a 45 minute drive but well worth it

Aftermarket or not who ever tried to repair it did a pretty bad job. Deciding between salvaging it or not ... don't know

Wether you do decide to try and salvage it or not, you may want to get some long strand fiberglass resine (aka Tigerhair). I live in the salt/rust belt of Pa. and have done a lot of patching with this stuff. It's stronger than bondo and waterproof too. Just make sure to grind off the loose rusty scale so it has something to bond to. You can use screen or tape to help form missing areas. It mixes just like bondo.

hey thanks for the advise. I'll read up on that. I've seen some patches at walmart and autozone. idk if they are similar to what you are describing but yes indeed I will need some patch work to cover quite a bit of distance

Tigerhair comes in quart and gallon sized cans and comes with a squeeze tube of hardener. For every golf ball sized amount of fiberglass, add a 1inch long stripe of hardener. Mix well with puddy knife and apply. Easy.
