Default New from Wisconsin

Hi,

I don't have a jeep yet but i'm looking a few. Mostly looking for a Grand Cherokee. I came across one today that has the 4.0 in it with 235,xxx miles. What would you guys and girls pay for a truck like this. I'm mechanically inclined so if i need to rebuild the engine or put a new one in i'm not that concerned, but how long do they run? I know they're reliable if well maintained, i'm just not sure if this one is well maintained. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Jeremy

Welcome to the forums

I would say go for it if you know how it has been maintained... If the oil hasent been changed since 2005 I would have to say no...lol

4.0s tend to last to about 350,000 or so... If well maintained...

Ok thank you for the words of advice. I went to look at another one today that seemed like a better deal. He told me how well it has been maintained, the engine bay was almost spotless except for by the valve cover. It had 270k but it was mostly highway. My only concern was that when i started it it had some sort of slight vibration??? it wasn't constant either like it would come and go. the idle was very steady and it sounded very smooth. i'm just not sure about the vibration. I will try to search the forum, but if anyone knows where i should start looking it'd be greatly appreciated. BTW i didn't drive it i just started it in his driveway.

Welcome to CF from COS!!

That could be the harmonic balancer on the crank. If they start to go they will cause a vibration.
