It has been a long time since I have been on the forum. Unfortunately, Herman was stolen and crashed. It was the first time I ever cried over a vehicle, but Herman was beloved. My kids learned to drive in Herman, and he took us on many an adventure. He was a 1992 Cherokee Sport.
Now we have a new member of the family, Loretta. Loretta is a 1988 Laredo flavor. Like Herman, she is completely stock, low mileage, and in exquisite condition. She is the only factory buff yellow Cherokee I have ever seen. I have only seen this factory color in the Wagoneer, and older CJ. Perhaps I just never noticed???
Welcome to our family Loretta. We look forward to many adventures.
You're freaking us out! Ours doesn't have a real name, we call it the mobile lab. The day I brought it home, the labs, the first day I drove it to work, and the day it took us out in the snow (last Sunday). I hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours.
Nice find! Mine was an '88 Laredo just like that, except red. Our family really enjoyed that vehicle, even if it was a Renix. At the time I didn't think anything about it. It seemed to be a fine automobile.
I am not sure if you still use this forum, but I believe I am looking at purchasing Loretta? She is currently for sale out of Illinois, and I’ve been tracking the background history of this particular Jeep Laredo. True, there could be many others in this buff yellow, but it’s had three owners, has a carfax report, and was last purchased in 2020. Could this be the same one? All I know is it’s lived most of its life in Ca., Arizona and Nevada. It was sold in 2020 with 125,000 miles on it. The person who bought it in 2020 apparently pulled it behind his motor home, and I’m kinda shocked that it has now 176,000 miles. That is a bigger jump in miles than I’m used to when it comes to odometer readings in such a short period of time. Anyhow, your story about Herman was sad...but nice to know you had Loretta. If the Jeep Laredo that I’m interested in sounds like Loretta to you...would love to know any backstory you might have on her care and upkeep. She’s for sale at Midwest Car Exchange, and previously sold at Streetside Classics in 2020. I think I saw that sticker in her window in your picture. She’s had the tranny rebuilt, but that’s about all I know pertaining to any maintenance. Hope to hear back.
Cheers!
Cory in Vancouver, BC.

Reason: Added new info
Loretta is safe at home in Utah. She is not a daily driver, but we do take her on frequent trips into the desert and the mountains. She is not for sale. 🙂
Hi,
I’m glad to hear you’ve got her - those buff yellow ones are gems! I’m still on the hunt, a the one I saw that was similar to yours sold, but I know the right one will come along Happy adventures to you and your family!
