I have brand new to these rigs, and don't have a clue... Does this look like a good deal? Are there things I should watch for and look for when testing and looking at this in person?

I would make sure and point out the peeling paint and talk about how much a quality paint job is going to be. A lot of it depends on the mileage. Make sure the 4wd works. Put it in 4wd and make a wide turn. It should kind of buck if the 4wd is engaged. Don't do it long it's not good for it. Get underneath it and check for rust. The 4.0 is known to be a little leaky oil wise. Usually around the valve cover and the rear main seal, but it shouldn't have a puddle or anything like that. 2000 doesn't seem too bad either.

Nothing really specific to this year. Just the usual things. Look the unibody over for rust, check the suspension and steering components. If you see any bad bushings, ball joints, or u-joints use that to get the price a little lower. $2,000 for a clean 1 owner '93 is a pretty good deal. These 4.0's like to leak some oil as they age, usual places to leak are the valve cover gasket, oil filter adapter o-rings, and the rear main seal. All can be replaced without removing the engine. Find a dirt road and test out the 4x4 if possible.
Also check the exhaust header for cracks, they tend to crack eventually.
