Just bought my first XJ - 2000 classic. Body has about 240k on it but it's pretty clean. Engine was rebuilt according to the previous owner. Can't confirm because her brother passed away soon after and she sold it. The numbers don't appear to match though so it's definitely a different engine.

It's currently at my father's house. We're going to start stripping it for paint next week and gutting the interior for new carpet and headliner. It'll be a month or so for that as it's a "weekends and nights project". I'll be purchasing bumpers for the front and rear too. After all that is done, my friend and I are going to tear out the bottom suspension and pretty much replace everything. We're going to put a 3.5 lift on it. Pretty excited.

Unsure to be honest. I'll look up how to tell and get back to you.

Edit: not really sure how to tell. Looked online and couldn't find anything. Here's some pics though.

Watch out for the 0331 head casting. I had a 2000 xj and the head cracked at 162k, from what I learned it is a flaw in the casting and they crack around 165k. That supports the theory that it has been repowered or at the very least rebuilt.
