Hi, I'm a new owner of a Cherokee Trailhak 3.2 petrol. The engine and the 4x4 is just great. There's one thing that drives me crazy though. I can't switch the STOP/START system completely off. Everytime I start the engine, it goes back on. According to the user manual it is what it's supposed to do. Is there any chance to shut the function completely off or is it something you get used to?

Hi JohnyT,

As stated in the manual, the ESS is performing as designed. This is not a feature that you can completely disable, it will come back on each time you restart the engine.

"To Manually Turn Off The Stop/Start System
1. Push the STOP/START Off switch (located on the switch bank). The light on the switch will illuminate.
2. The “STOP/START OFF” message will appear in the instrument cluster display. Refer to “Instrument Cluster
Display” in “Getting To Know Your Instrument Panel” for further information.
3. At the next vehicle stop (after turning off the STOP/START system), the engine will not be stopped.
4. The STOP/START system will reset itself back to the ON mode every time the ignition is turned off and back on."
