Default New (ish) cherokee from maryland

Hello,

My name is Daniel and I just got a 1999 cherokee on last tuesday. I am from maryland and I'm going to be fixing it up. Thinking about a 3" lift and 31 inch tires. Any suggestions? Thinking of going with a setup from Rusty's off-road, seems pretty good and a low price. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again,

Daniel

Welcome from VA! You might want to check out Rough Country too. they also have some pretty good prices. I'm going to be getting their 4.5" in a couple of months. I have heard Rusty's is a great company. with the three inch 31's should fit.

I've got a lot of repairs to do because I already love my XJ and I'd like to keep it as long as possible. How do you recommend getting all the rust off the axles and other parts? WD-40 and a steel brush?

When I do get the rust off, is there a specific paint you would recommend to keep it rust free?

That should work for surface rust. it did for me on my rear differential. as for paint I just used rustoleum on it about 3 months ago and it still looks good.

If I was starting out again with what I know now, personally I wouldn't buy Rusty's. If you do, go for the heavier springs and full leaf packs. If I was starting out again I would save for BDS or even Rubicon Express. Better parts and you won't be replacing them in a year. If you want to know more about my experience PM me.
On the other hand, welcome!
