So I'm gearing up for my first real vehicle purchase, and decided to get a Cherokee. I've learned so much these last few days perusing these articles. I'm gonna keep the craigslist searching going until the end of the month.

1.) Is there a comprehensive overview of all these suspension items everyone is tacking on to their vehicle?(e.g. shackles, long arms).
2.) Is there a mass produced kayak rack for the xj, if you know of one could you please send me a link?
3.) How many miles can i expect to put on one of these with reasonable maintenance? It seems like even the higher mile vehicles are still going for a hefty penny.
4.) Is there a reputable dealer specializing in jeeps within a 100 mile radius of Tampa, Fl that you know of?

well as far as miles I have ran these baby's 300 k plus a few times with no major problems. Just change the oil. As far as a suspension "overview " do you want to know what all the terms mean or buy the parts? For your kayak rack I would try 4 wheel drive hardware or jeep essentials.not sure of a dealer in Fla... since you haven't purchased a jeep yet, get the 4.0 engine, you will be glad you did.

Don't be afraid to buy from a private seller, they're a lot easier to size up than stealerships. I dealt with a few used car dealers when I bought mine and eventually stopped bothering to call them at all. As for the suspensions, there is a lift kit for every budget and set of needs. Rough Country and Rusty's Off Road are two very popular companies with good reputations to google. Good Luck and enjoy!

Thanks, i'll keep checking around. With all honesty i really don't know enough about vehicles to trust my decision, so i wanted to go to a dealership.

Dealerships will screw you just as quick as a private seller will, sometimes worse. If you don't know alot try to find someone you trust to look at it. I would recommend a private seller, you can at least get a general idea of its history. One bit of advice is to check out the seller, do they look like someone who would abuse a vehicle or take care of it? I have found vehicles from older folks and women seem to be less on the abused side. When I was shopping for a project yj the only one I found that diddnt look ragged out was from.an older lady.

i checked and i don't see where it should connect, please help, the temp and oil pressure gauge also seem to be broken, and that's a bit scary for me, so if you could hints on where the sensors are located that'd be great. if it could be a fuse or other problem please help.
