Hi all. Been lurking around for a few days so i decided to finally join up. I just got a 2001 Cherokee sport 4dr 4wd, automatic, patriot blue. It only has 120k miles which for the year i think is pretty good. And if the papers that were still in the glove box are any indication, its a one owner. Its got a couple options that im enjoying such as cruise control, power windows and mirrors, and a few other things.
It is pretty much the complete opposite as my old car that I had unfortunately totaled earlier last month. It was a 2005 scion xa, slammed, covered in aftermarket parts, quick and loud.
I had not actually considered a jeep or any suv before. I told the guy at the dealership I was not too picky, just that I wanted 4 doors, ac (for my young daughter), decent mpg, and reliability. When they were unable to get me financed for a new-ish accord I was looking at, they asked if i had to have a car or if something else would work. I said it didn't really matter, but thought they were going to be leaning towards a minivan. I was a bit surprised when they brought out the keys to a Cherokee and they told me to take it for a test drive while they run the numbers. At first i thought "oh hell no," but i actually loved it during the test drive. I felt so much more in command on the road and more solid and manly. It covered all my requirements except for the mpg. And i also was excited that I would never have to worry about my car sucking up too much water during the monsoons here like my old one had last year. (YouTube Arizona monsoons if you haven't heard of them, it can get bad)
Now already my girlfriend, daughter, and I are already just days away from our first camping trip together since we have the capability now. I keep scouring the internet for stuff I want to ad like a roof basket, winch, sliders, light bar, but nothing in the works yet. It seems more then capable enough to handle what we need it to do.
