New guy with a question about a Grand Cherokee
Hi I am new here and I have a question about a Grand Cherokee that I saw for sale. It is 1998 Laredo, automatic, 6 cylinder with 80,000 miles on it. They are asking $4900.00 for it. Is this a good deal? Is this a good year? I have looked at just briefly and it looks ok. When I go to drive this Jeep, what should I be looking for? I'd be grateful for any knowledge that you could pass on. Thanks
in Fl that is rediculously over priced
Here are just a few good cherokees way below listed price
for a 98, I would offer 2.5-3k max unless it's 100% perfect, when buying a jeep if its 4x4 make sure it works, look for leaks, and leave it running for about 30 mins to make sure it doesn't over heat, make sure the tranny shifts smooth, all the electronics work, oil leaks, check every inch, push on the floors make sure there are no soft spots. ect. Comb over that sucker

Welcome to CF. That's the last year for the ZJ Grands ('93-'98). That's not a bad private party price for a low mile example in very clean condition, everything works as intended, and has no rust issues at all. Also that's an average price for one on a dealer lot in just average condition.
When I bought a '97 ZJ Limited/Orvis, V8, AWD in Tenn. a few years ago, it was in great condition with all options, and I payed $6,000 for it on a dealers lot. It was in the same shape when I sold it to my son for $3,000 though.
