Default New Guy Here

Figured I would sign up for this forum, considering I just got hold of an '01 XJ about a month ago.

I've been part of jeepforums.com for a while now, but all the more resources to help keep myself straight on this Jeep would be nice.

So, hi!

No significant projects to speak of. Just a few maintenance things that needed to be taken care of - tires, power steering pump, steering stabilizer, changed the gasket/oil in the rear diff. Still need to repair or replace the back window wiper, and probably going to upgrade the headlights/wiring before very long. Might go ahead and put in an aftermarket stereo, and definitely need new speakers. Only the rear roof ones work, and they're no good at that either.

I do have plans though.. many plans. When I'll get around to them, not sure yet. Time/money will tell. But you know what they say, Just Empty Every Pocket.

I had a bad speaker in the front drivers side door. The problem was a bad connection in the rubber door boot -- you may want to check that if just swapping the speakers out doesn't work. I ended up splicing and soldering+heat shrinking the speaker wire back together to fix the issue.

I talked to Crutchfield and they recommended http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2064CS6...r-40CS654.html for what I was doing. I was impressed with the results in the front doors, and ended up buying another pair for the roof -- they fit without any modification which was nice, and the included adapter made the install quite speedy.

Best of luck with the stereo. "Just Empty Every Pocket." Ha!
