Hi I'm new here
I'm interested in a Jeep Cherokee 97' with the V6 engine ( assuming 4.0) ( see picture)
the asking price is $2000 which I thing is pretty decent according to the condition of the car ( inside and outside) unfortunately I don't know to much about the car and engines in general. ( The only knowledge I have is from my Chrysler Sebring that breaks down every 2 weeks .. so actually quite some knowledge about what can happen) So if I would buy a Chrysler Sebring, I would know exactly what to look for and to check on before i buy the car.
I was hoping somebody here can tell me what to look for/at on a used Cherokee of this modle before I buy it.
Buy it. It's probably the inline 6, not a V6. XJ's never came with a V6. Looks really good though. 2k is a good price too. Make sure the 4x4 works, and check the mileage. If it's under 200k miles, you're good.
haven't bought the Jeep yet.. still hasitating because it has a salvage title, but I can get it for 1600 bucks now.. I did test drive it and it runs pretty good .
I couldn't find any problems , no leaks so I guess the main seal is ok !?
.. Just when I turne the wheel all the way I hear a loud "metal crack" noise from the front left suspension area.
Is the 12 Shift position the 4 Wheel drive mode ?
Or is there an extra Shift stick for the 4 Wheel drive?

Actually, they did! And mine is one example of it haha. Of course, they didn't have a V6 once Chrysler took over AMC...
