Default New from Alabama

Merry Christmas everyone.

Been wanting a wrangler for a long time until one night when I had my z71 out mudding with a buddy that had his Dodge Ram. He got stuck BAD, he called someone to come pull him out cause I couldnt get to him without getting stuck myself. Guy comes in the woods in a stock XJ with nothing but a set of worn out allterrain tires. Im thinking "aint no way in hell" ! Then I seen the XJ pull this huge 4 door 4wd big horn edition dodge ram out of this hole that had both the front and rear bumpers on the ground. After that night a few months ago I said "damn, I gotta get me a jeep cherokee". I gave up the wrangler idea and been looking for a XJ ever since.

This past friday my buddy (the ram owner, who has since bought himself a wrangler also) calls me and says "hey i found an XJ for $500" I said "where at Im on my way to look at it now." I get to the location and there it sets an 88 XJ Laredo. Story from owner is, its been setting for a few years on and off and not started in 2 years, has green muck and acorns all over it and 4 flat tires, smells like rat **** inside. So I tell the guy, "tell ya what Ill run get a hot battery if it turns over and isnt locked up Ill buy it." I get the hot battery on it and spray it with some starting fluid and it turns over but getting no fire. I told the dude Id give $350 he said $500 I said $450 he said OK! Air up the tires and pull it home with the z71. Get on cherokee forum do some searching and the next day I buy a crank sensor and put a tune up on it. Spray it with starting fluid again and she starts up after a few rotations of the crank!!!!!

$530 and I have a running XJ!!!!

DROVE her to the car wash got the green muck off her, pulled the seats and tore the carpet out! Just about ready to give her a shake down run.

Tell me about it! I had given up about 2 days before this one showed up. I had found 2 on craigslist for $800 each. The day I was about to drop the hammer and go get one of them, they were both gone and I had given up. I was on a $1000 budget. Its like it was meant to be !

I bleed ford blue! I have owned a bunch of fox bodies. Done about everything you can possibly do to one and said hell with it and got rid of my 88 coupe and 72 Grabber Maverick a few months back. Ive always dreamed of a 70 GTO orbit orange and I went to GA and bought a goat and brought it home and did a frame off resto on it. Shes almost done. Ive drove it a little bit but transmission lost 3rd so gotta rebuild that this spring and then get the the stripes put on her.
