Hi, everybody. I just bought my 2nd XJ at the end of August. (2001 Sport). She's going to need quite a bit of work, and I haven't done any more than add fluids to a vehicle in +20 years!
First priority is new suspension--it appears to be the original. Some weird stuff going on with my check engine light and either an EVAP leak or...something electrical? It's been reset, and now thinks it's about to run out of gas when I use 2 gallons of a full tank.
Anyway, it'll be worth it, and I'm hoping to learn a lot from y'all!

got rid of the roof rack...and there's more rust. lol

Welcome, Faith!

That's a clean machine!

Yeah, those old springs have got to go!

Consider picking up a code reader. Being able to read and clear codes is very helpful. Even better is the ability to watch various measurements as your heap is running down the road. There are a lot of inexpensive BlueTooth code readers on the market. Amazon is full of them. Download a free app onto your phone, plug in the code reader, and a whole new world opens up.

OR splurge for something a bit better. OBDLink readers come with a good phone app AND an app for your laptop, which can do even more.

Now I’ll stop calling those “the Autozone thingies” and getting blank stares.
Thanks a bunch for the tips!
