New 97 Cherokee 2wd Owner
Hello! Names Devan. Recently acquired a 1997 2wd Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0l I6. Just turned 155,701 miles.
Not entirely in rough condition but not up to snuff for me. Being a 2wd means unfornatuly it is not as much of a trail vehicle as I would like it to be but may still see some wood usage.
Here are a few pictures,
Recent work
-Front Pads and Rotors
-Rear Pads
-Cap and Rotor
Needs,
-Headliner replacement,
-Mis fire @ idle on cyl 1 diagnosed.
-ABS light is on (believed to be failed sensor)
-Tires
I am hoping the guys here can help me out with it and make it a better vehicle than Stock would have it. I am a functional type person. I enjoy being able to use my vehicles beyond what they were planned to but not be half dashed to do it. I do wish for the Jeep to be a winter/minor Trail vehicle within it's 2wd limits. Also light towing and junkyard runs as well. Any advice on this is also welcomed.
So for now, all I ask is any insight on the Cyl 1 misfire at Idle. Only at idle, and no where else. Cap and Rotor have been replaced and checked. Wires Swapped and checked. Plugs pulled and checked (Gap and proper part Champion Coppers) and Injectors swapped with no difference. At idle you can disconnect Cyl 1 injector with no difference on CEL, however bump up idle to above 800 rpms and misfire will go away and pulling plug on injector not only makes a difference, but sets CEL as well.
I have yet to do a compression test. It sat for a year in GA before I acquired it. I placed in fresh gas, and drove it 2 hours north without any major issues or CEL and achieved 22+ mpg (according to OTIS)
So, any info or advice on this would be greatly thankful for!
Also, I am not new to the Chrysler owner club, I do happen to own a 93 Eagle Vision ESi with a few tricks up it's sleeve.
@Dragons Tail with friend's 300M special rims on.
Guess I will go check out some threads until then Thanks again for looking!
