New 1998 XJ
Hello all.
I am about to buy a 1998 XJ for my first Jeep. I have never owned one but I have done some work on them. This one is rust free, with the exception of the rear bumper, which is unusual up hear in the rust belt for reasonable money. Usually they need rockers and floors.
This one was bought by a friend to be a second vehicle and he was intending to put a plow on it. He never did get the plow but did a lot of work to it over the last couple of years. New complete AC system, new window switches, new plastic gas tank, new brakes and tires. It is 1200 bucks which I think is very reasonable for the condition and what has been done to it. And it has about 120K miles on it.
It only really needs a battery and a good cleaning aside from the rear bumper. It also needs the exhaust manifold but it comes with the new one. I just need to install it. All and all a pretty solid vehicle.
I originally wanted to get it as a flip to make a few bucks on but now my wife wants to replace her Celica convertible with it. So I guess I am now going to be an official Jeep owner.
I know this may be sort of like being a double agent but I drive a 92 Toyota 4x4 truck. So I am now sleeping with the enemy. lol I have found a lot of help on different forums over the years and I look forward to reading through this forum and offering any advice I can as well along the way.
Talk you all soon.

Welcome!! Sounds like a nice vehicle. You should be able to run anywhere now you have a Jeep to get the Yota unstuck. LOL Just kidding.
