Default Looking for a solid cherokee body.

Hello all. I've used this forum for a couple of years now through re-flooring of my 1996 cherokee. Now that I have that completed I am wondering how much is reasonable to pay for and if there are cherokees out there with good bodies and shot drive trains. In this part of the country (Michigan) you can find the opposite fairly easily. I've decided I hate body work and don't mind wrenching so much.

In any case thanks in advance for the feed back and for the previous help!

Ahhh road salt.

Welcome from Indianapolis.

I'd say look for 00-01 , I've seen lots of those on Craigslist with toasted engines/heads for cheap.

The price of a clean non running XJ will vary a lot, and could be anywhere from $500, up to $2,000. Some may laugh, but with an engine installed that XJ night sell for $3,500 or more. I've seen clean ones sell for some high prices. JMO of course.

Default New floor in my 1996 Cherokee

Thanks. Don't have the pictures here to post. Didn't take post new floor install pictures. Kinda wish I had but just wanted to get the thing back on the road at that point. Will get what I can from under the jeep. I really don't recommend doing what I did. Too much time for what it is. Still an old Jeep albeit one that no longer leaks water up from below. Nice to be driving it though after two years sitting in my garage. Actual time to replace the rusted out floor was free evenings and weekend over three months.

This is what I felt like much of the time during the repair. Most of the floor and rocker panels were rusted out. I built new front, mid, and rear floor pans and rocker panels from heavier gauge galvanized sheet metal. The load load floor pan I bought from Amazon of all places. Painted all parts with POR15. Then riveted it all in and sealed it up with Utlra black RTV. Then I painted the inside and outside of the frame rails and rivet areas with a mix of anti-seize and chainsaw bar oil.
