Question looking at buying 99 jeep cherokee

Hey guys looking at buying a 99 jeep cherokee and the owner says it needs a cam pos sensor. Was just wondering if that should shy me away or no. And is that hard to fix or no.

no and no

99 is the best year since the renix jeeps. cam sensor is easy and should take no longer than 5 minutes to change.

How Much? If the price is right I would love to buy it. Even if it wasn't running. Great year and would be a great project. The question you need to ask your self is since it is such an easy fix why doesn't he fix it before he sells it??? If he is just unloading it for cheap, ($1,000) then absolutely buy it, but I would be weary of buying it with a problem if your paying anything close to what it's worth blue book.

buy or borrow a new cam shaft sensor. they are easy to install and only take about 5 minutes. this way you can start the jeep and see how fast the oil pressure comes up and also hear how it runs...

For me if I was in the market for another XJ and it was clean, I wouldn't worry if it was cheap enough. But it all depends on If you are mechanically incline. XJs' are easy to work on.
