I've been lurking for a month after buying a 98 Classic with 200k miles off of Craigslist. It came with a RC 3" lift, just installed. Attached is what the XJ looked like the day I bought it. Not a bad start and the price was a steal IMO for $1800.
I am no stranger to forums as I operate one myself. More on that later. I have done my initial research and have familiarized myself with the XJ and will start posting more later, hopefully worthy and contributing content...I have a few questions I will ask later in the appropriate threads as well...This will be my first official vehicle build, I've rebuilt and tinkered with motorcycles mostly and know my way around a Haynes.
Plans are for this XJ to become our family adventure vehicle. I will make it as dependable as possible by replacing the necessary parts and adding what mods will be appropriate for our rig.
I have added wheels and tires along with a few other things I'll get into later in the build threads. I look forward to learning from the vast knowledge that a forum has and already have some insight just from lurking these past weeks.
We have already did some light wheelin at camp gruber state park and keystone state park. The Cherokee is more than adept. Look forward to taking it to Dday adventure park in a few weeks.
Lastly I will attach the most recent pic of the XJ after some cleaning...and wheels & tires.
Thanks for looking and reading.
