Default Jeep Noob

How's it going fellas, new guy here. I'm from visalia (central valley), Ca. Just picked up my WJ this weekend and as the title I'm a jeep noob. First jeep ever owned, I was a mustang enthusiast but wanted to give the whole trail rig scene a try. I was looking at the xj for a while, but then I ran into this for a good price (2500) and I didn't wanna pass up on it.

It looks pretty ready as is. Maybe some better tires wouldn't hurt. How much/what kind of lift?

Huh, looks tall for 2" but yeah, getting something that will net you more travel and a smoother ride will be good.

Yes, I can only tell you specifically how to on an XJ, but Google lift height measurement. In the mean time if it is a 2" lift it's probably a budget boost (BB) and you will see the poly spacers on top of the coils. The kit is ~100 bucks and doesn't require any other mods so it's super easy.. To go up to 3.5"+ inches is another story: steering and driveline components have to be upgraded, brake lines, sway bars, bump stops, better shocks, etc. are all needed too.

With a full lift kit you're looking at $500 to get you started and $700-$1000 to get a good kit. Your WJ has coil springs in the rear, coils are a bit more pricey than leafs and you'll need two track bars to center your axles.. It gets a bit sticker shockey at this point.. Probably why PO only had a 2" BB in it.. Lots of good threads on here and google hits to check out..
