Hi, we are a french family traveling though Mexico, after having cycled and taxied for a month around Tulum,
we found a Jeep Cherokee Sport XJ 1999 for sale at our neighbor and presto !

There are two or three renovations details but overall it works !

4.0l / 6cl / 4-speed automatic gearbox / 2x4, Engine from US

We crossed mountains in the Chiapas, learned to negotiate the engine brake automatically without heating the discs!
Sailed a piece of the Caribbean by ferry.
Slalomed for hours between cactus and potholes, tipped the police for their snacks.
Lost a few liters of coolant in a geyser like in the cartoons.
Changed direction along the way, changed part of the direction.
Rolled cautiously at ten in the cockpit.

What a fun adventure.

I spent a month traveling around Mexico in 1974. All by train and bus.

 

Yes we have try one month by bus and bycicling but with a 1.5 year old girl, cherokee is a realy good way to travel !
