Default Jeep and 4x4 newbie here.

Hi all,

I've never owned a jeep before. I'm looking to purchase a used vechicle in the next couple of months. My budget is around eight thousand USD. I'm looking for a daily drive, fishing/camping and mild trail rig.

I was leaning towards a TJ or XJ. I decided against the TJ because of lack of cargo space and it being a two door. I don't see me, my girlfriend, my two teenage sisters and my dog plus camping/fishing gear fitting in a TJ comfortly.

The XJ wins by default. Which I don't mind since the XJ is cheaper to a comparable TJ. I found several two to three thousand less then my budget. Give me some leeway to do any fixes, repairs or maintence that needs to be done.

I plan to go for a '98/'99 XJ.

Thank you,
Scott

Awesome and welcome to the Jeep and 4x4 family. You will thoroughly enjoy an XJ and they are so easy to work on and modify.

Of course the XJ's go camping, who needs a tent when you can fold down the back seat? haha
