Talking Howdy from a West PA soon-to-be XJ owner

I'm set on buying a Cherokee. I love the way they look, I love how reliable they seem to be and I love how much you can do to them. I've been pinching my pennies for a year and I've finally got the cash to make one mine! Not sure if it's the excitement of trying something new or the fact that these things just seem like SO much fun, but I'm really stoked to get one.

Anyway, figured I'd get a head start with the community, so hey everyone! I'm a college student/student pilot (incidentally I train in a variant of the Piper Cherokee) and, seeing as I've never owned an off road vehicle before, apologies in advance for asking more than my fair share of questions...speaking of which:

What would you guys recommend for the first thousand dollars put into a Jeep? After the standard used car maintenance of course...

See ya around!

I'm smack dab between Erie and Pittsburgh, in a little town you've never heard of right off I80.

We have a place where we park our camper for hunting and steelhead fishing off of I80 on Sandy Lake rd and Scrubgrass road. Just east of I79!
