Hello there... new guy checking in from the Seattle area. I recently moved here from the St Louis area where I was into sport bikes and lowered S-10s but now I want to try something different.

Like my sig says, I'm looking for a 98-01 Cherokee. Prefer something close, has to be 4wd.

Welcome, from Wisconsin. You don't like the earlier years?

Welcome, you could probably get an older one for cheaper.

Welcome from Everett. Love it when you ask for a certain year XJ and no one listens! Look at craigslist. Sure you can come across one!

stick to your guns about the years....i think the 98 to mid 99 are best. has to be non ABS though. that will guarantee the 29 spline chryco 8.25, HP D30, and look for an upcountry package too(no rear sway, skit plates)

Welcome!! Nothing wrong with 98's... I love mine, can't wait to start modding it up to make it even more capable...

Thanks guys. I plan to DD this for a bit and keep it relatively stock until I've got some kind of ecar for daily abuse. That's the main reason for the later years... Generally means less miles. Trying to stay away from the renix and some other gremlins I've read about.

Hey Everett guy... I'm actually staying and working in Everett now. I'll still work here but will be staying in Marysville (Smokey Point) shortly.

Going to look at this here in a few hours...

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/ctd/1764102456.html

I could be a Jeep owner before the day is over. I have a few others to check out but their asking prices are higher. Going to investigate the wear and tear and check out the equipment before i pull the trigger. My guess is a D30 and 8.25 from what I've read.

Thoughts? Opinions?

i tried to go look at 3 today. one of them was "at the shop having a vacuum leak looked at" which i'll pass on (the link i posted above), and the other 2 were at the same lot. the dealer just finished locking the gates when i got there so i kept driving.

let the search continue!
