Hey new and in need of advice
So I have had my 99 Cherokee for years, since I was in college. I love it and it is always reliable. It is still totally stock, runs well, but is in bad need of a suspension upgrade, new leaf springs in particular. Ive never taken it off roading, would like to, but probably noting too serious. I am getting some kind of new commuter car soon and for the first time in my life can afford to give my XJ the love it deserves.
My real question is it has almost 170000 miles on it, i only paid $4000 for it eight years ago, is it dumb to start spending a bunch of money on it now? As i am looking for new cars, none of them seem appealing to me, I want this Jeep forever.
I was looking at getting an Rubicon Express 3.5 super ride, because in all honesty it will probably be on the road most of the time, so i could use the street handling. Should i just go with something less expensive?
I am no master mechanic, but have learned to work on cars with this Jeep and have never needed to take it anywhere thanks to help from forums like this. Anyway I know this is the kind of question that annoys a lot of people on forums, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Big thanks to all of you who post and help on these forums, it has done a lot for me.

If you love your Heep there is no reason not to throw a few green backs at it. The RE kit is one of the best deals out there. Welcome to forum and good luck with your build.

If you have the 4.0 and its been taken care of they can run 300k no problem. If you do buy a lift get a can of pb blaster and spray every bolt your gonna remove one a day for a few days before.Trust me it helps a lot and if your replacing your leaf springs be ready to cut the end bolts out they always rust in place.

I do take care of it. changing out the head gasket is something else i need to do though. runs great, just saggy. i have sprayed pb blaster the past two days and a few other times this month. i am pretty close on ordering the RC 3" series II, but i am waiting on picking out new rims and where i am going to get the best deal getting my tires put on with an alignment. i hope maybe i can do it all this weekend.
