Hello from Sunny Florida!
Hi all. I've been trolling around for about a month, then figured I really should join. Just recently received an '01 Cherokee 2WD from my Pops, and am already realizing how true of a statement "Just Empty Every Pocket" is! Let me start by telling the 8 year story of how I came to be the owner.
Pops is a auto wholesaler by trade, and he was asked to find a reliable vehicle for my Mom's coworker. In July of '04 he found a blue, four door Cherokee, and purchased it at a steal of a price. He makes a bit of cash, and my Mom's coworker is happier than a pig in slop. I sat and longed for this truck, but could not afford it at the time.
Fast forward to July '11. Mom's coworker has a slight fender bender, and is now disgusted at the Jeep. So he calls upon Pops again, and my dad is more than happy to oblige finding him a new vehicle. Turns out my dad's inventory had nothing that totally interested him, so they took a ride to my Grandpa's. He found what he really wanted there, and for his effort's, Pops got the Jeep as a "Thank You". This is where I strike! I must have hounded him for what seemed like an eternity about the Cherokee, as he also had a '97 Wrangler with a 2.5 banger. He wouldn't come off either of them.
At this point, I've given up hope of owning any Jeep and figured I was destined to ride my scooter 'til it died. Now what I am about to say may seem harsh and wrong if you're a motorcycle enthusiast(like myself), but it only took them finding out that 2 people were involved in fatal accidents on my route to work, and Mom said, "You give him that Cherokee! It was given to you and you don't need 3 trucks!". Maternal instincts have never made me happier. And now I have a safe ride to work, while always on look-out for fellow riders.
So, for the past month now, I've learned how easy and enjoyable it is to wrench on these trucks. But d@mn if this truck doesn't want or need me to spend money on it every week. The weekends lately are spent replacing this or that, leaving no money for mods. At least I'm saving money with the help I've found on this forum! Can't wait to start asking more questions............

Thanks for the welcome. Future plans don't include a 4X4 conversion, but a purchase.......maybe. Just trying to get her to like-new condition, then make a few bucks to find the fun one!
