Hello from southern Maine
I've technically got two XJ's but one is a two wheel drive. The other is an '87 with an NP 242.
Yes, for those inquiring minds, it does have the Dana 44 rear axle. I love it, the only problem is that the State of Maine has a different opinion. Until I can get that one past the state vehicle inspection, I'm stuck driving the '98 2WD.

Yeah, I do need to get some pics up. Maybe I'll get to that today.
I just got the parking brake fixed so that's one more thing that I can check off of the repair list. It had some rust holes in the floor so I've already ripped out all the carpet, patched the holes, and slopped bedliner all over the interior.
My eventual goal for this one is an all around general purpose vehicle that will get used for a daily driver, trail rig, and probably pull some work truck duties as well.
So, step one is to get the thing in good enough condition so that I can bribe the State of Maine for the honor and privilege of using their roads (aka get my inspection sticker).

Hello, davy. Good to met ya, so to speak.
okcjeeper, I had thought about that. There are several complications with that route.
-First, I think Jeep went from a 21 to a 23 spline output shaft in 90 or 91. That would mean that I would have to use the '87 transmission. It's got 100,000 more miles on it and it's definitely rougher.
-Second, these are the only two vehicles that my wife and I have and we can't afford to have them both out of order at the same time.
-Third, since we have a kid on the way, it's better for us to have two vehicles and the cost to fix up the '87 will be less than buying a car, at least I'm hoping.

Ok, here she is. I'm pretty close to getting her fixed up enough to be roadworthy. After that I've got some plans to make her trailworthy.
I just changed out the brake shoes, replaced the e-brake cables, and patched the vacuum reservoir bottle so now I can use the cruise control and AC. It's not like I ever use AC up here in Maine but it's nice to have more heater settings than "off" and "blastfurnace."
