Default Hello from North MS

New member and first time XJ owner. I originally wanted one to use as a winter/expedition ride after I retire out west in a few years. But, my DD, '05 Ram, started to nickle and dime me a little more than I cared for. So, I decided to purchase a '98 Sport 5 speed to use as a DD and sell the Ram. I had looked at other Jeeps, but we're in the habit of always having two, or more, large dogs with us. Space and ease of access were needed. My son drives a '04 Grand Cherokee which we've used to haul the dogs around quite a bit, so I figured an XJ would be a good fit.

Immediately after purchase, I had a new set of 225/75R15's put on it and the front shaft removed (vibration on the test drive and just wanted it out of the equation for the ride home) for the 3 hour drive home. Drove great with no issues. As I said, this will be my DD for at least the next year, so I'll be taking care of all of the essential maintenance first and dealing with some moderate rust in the passenger floorboard. Everything will pretty much remain stock for the next year til I purchase another truck, then the mods will begin. Looking forward to learning from the members here and posting my progress. JD
