This is my first post. This is my first Jeep. I have owned many different types of cars, and I am very familiar with modifying cars, ie... suspension, wheels, engine builds, turbos (read.. only cars = never trucks). I have only speculative ideas when it comes to lifting a vehicle and not lowering it.

I have found a bone stock, rust free, 95 XJ (country) that I have purchased sight unseen. Literally a barn find through a friend, from a little old lady that bought it new, and now has only 38,000 miles on it. (I just giggled a little typing that.) I am told she had to replace the battery every year to drive it through emissions inspection, but it has passed every year.

I don't want to mention the amount I paid... yet. I am hoping this community would be able to offer a little direction on whether to throw a lift kit and big tires on it, or keep it stock as more of an investment than a toy.

What would be a fair price for a 95 XJ Country w/ 38,000 miles, stock, clean interior w/ no rust?

If you are a careful reader you have already figured out what I would like to do to this XJ, but I would appreciate (most)any insight offered.

I would pay 5-6k for that gem. And lift it lol. Put the first dent it with pride!

If it's as clean as the mileage would indicate, a fair guess is $6,000. If you had two serious people that wanted to bid against each other, who can say what it's worth? It's worth what someone wants to pay for it.

 

Well... here it is!
It is not quite what I was told but pretty darn close. It actually had 48K miles on it not 38K. Then I drove it home 11 hours and now has 49K miles on it. It does have little paint chip rust marks, but nothing I can't take care of. There are a couple drops of oil on the driveway this morning, maybe not a big deal. The tires are from 2001, but the wheels/tires/suspension are all going to be changed anyway. The interior is pretty clean, but was/is very dusty, due to sitting for few years. The coffee stain on the passenger seat should be an easy cleanup. I ended up paying only $2,000. I am pleased, and looking forward to the trails/camping/trips/not being at work.

This is the garage where the Jeep was parked. Out of respect for Ms. Charlotte I did not crawl on her rocks by the house.

 

Waking it up for the first time in months.
Yep... That is a coolant leak on the floor of the garage. Had to replace a hose before setting off.

 

The field behind Charlotte's house is now rented out to a local farmer. I am told her husband and son took care of it as a past time.
The garage down the street gave a quick look over, then I was on my way!
The interior is pretty clean too.

 

This is all the pics I will have for today... I still have to work even though it is the Fourth of July. I was able to get a hose on it and knock some of the dust off of it this morning.
I have never seen a running board like this before... "Auotbahn". It will be coming off as soon as I have time.
Let me know if you see anything from the pics that needs addressing. I think I am going to name it "Miles"... Since it made it home a few hundred miles to Nashville from northern PA without breaking down. The longest trip it has had previously was to Bob Evans or Walmart.

I took off the running boards today. Pretty sure the Jeep's Mojo at least doubled when they came off.
