Default Hello from Guam

Hey people... Im saying whats up from Guam. Small U.S. territory in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Im on my 3rd XJ which i got last week. Its already built with an 10" lift and custom steering. I built the first hard wheeled XJ here when i was 16 with a Trail Master 4" lift sitting on 15x8.5 primes and 31x13.5 super swamper tsl/sx. That jeep went everywhere without a locker.

I while later i did an 8" Rubicon Express/Tomken lift with AA sye and Tom Woods shaft and had 15x12 Welds on 33x12.5 BFG AT's. Also did a custom x-over steering setup on that one too. Did wheel that one as hard as the first one but it also went everywhere.

Now i have a 96 with a 10" skyjacker lift on it sitting on 33's 4.88 gears and x-over steering. Im gona work the bugs out and get it ready to be abused. I still have my 15x12 welds and might throw some 35" boggers on em for the trails.

Absolutely. Post Pics, and cover the island boonies too. I was USMC stationed at the NavMag in 1983. Lots of great times there.

Yup there are lots of good trails to hit up. Ill get some pics today of the new ride. My main DD is an Infinity G35 so I had to get the jeep for taking care of man stuff like driving on the beach and towing boats. Also if a typhoon passes through then everything is pretty trashed for about a week and theres no way in hell the G35 will be able to go anywhere. Thats prime Jeepin time......

There it is. As u can see its just a skyjacker 8" with coil spacers and a shackle out back. Those are 33x12.5 on 15x10's. I can fit 35's on there but i want to redo the bump stops to get more flex out of it.

The front fender still has to get cut on the lower rear so the tires can fit in the wells. Even at this height 33's will push into the fender if ur real flexy.

The steering is set up real nice and beefy with a high steer custom set up. However take a look at the rear shaft pic. I dont like it at all and want to replace it with an AA SYE and TW shaft. At this 8" u need a custom shaft anyway so u might as well squeeze the extra 2" out of it and it shouldnt cost u much. All u need is a coil spacer and big *** shackle in the rear.

I coulda built one from the bottom up but since it woulda turned out like this anyway i figure id save myself the trouble and pick this one up. I like the bumpers on it too hahaaha. When ur this tall u do need some wide wheels to be stable on and off the road so im gona run the 15x10's on the street and 15x12's for the trail. I might add a heavy duty auto tranny cooler to save the heat on the trans. Oh yeah and a cheap rear locker.

I had two cars over there. a 66 bug and a 75 Thunderbird. Both of them vehicles, the passengers could watch the road pass under their feet, cause the rust had eaten straight through the floorboards. HaHa.. How do you keep a handle on the rust situation with your xj??
