Hello, getting a new Cherokee soon!
Hi everyone,
So I might be getting a FREE 95' (I think) Jeep Cherokee this month. All I have to do is register it and probably take it to have it smog.
This is a manual, 4door Cherokee. I have driven manual cars 4 times in my life. I drove the car and we'll it was an experience to begin with I am 5'7 and had to move the seat forward in order to press the clutch in and don't feel really comfortable. Needless to say I stalled the car on 1st gear a couple of times and some times 2 gear would make the car bounce. I know it's me and not the car.
I have 2 main questions or things to figure out.
1. Does the car have enough torque to not press on the gas in order to get into first? Or do I need to give it some gas? I know some cars will start to move without any gas input.
2. Can I adjust the pedals? Or can I add an extender to the clutch pedal?
Only reason I am accepting the car is because it's manual and want to be comfortable in a manual car and we'll it's FREE (after it passes smog) I also liked the Cherokee body stiles, my younger brother had one but it was automatic.
The car was did a trip here from Texas so sound like it's running good for that kind of trip.
Thanks for any advice that you can provide!

If it's a 4.0 it's got plenty torque, 2.5's not so much - but should still be enough.
No the pedals aren't adjustable - but there are plenty of people of lesser stature who drive XJ's - & they can't all have autos.
A free XJ is is something to be nurtured & cherished (although many would say they all should be - but I think they'd get my point)

Thank you!
I will take the jeep out tomorrow morning and drive it a bit more to get used to it.
It is a nice Jeep, it just needs some TLC, its white but the some part of the paint on the hood and the roof is rubbed off and some seems to be a surface rust, so will need to sand it a bit, prime it, paint and seal, nothing to crazy. Driver door lock, doesn't fully unlock so I might have to take it apart to see what's wrong with that.
