Hello Everyone
I'd like to introduce myself since I just joined.
My name is Seth
Im 16
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4.7 V8 H.O
I only have a part time job at KFC, and joined this forum to do work on my jeep by myself ( completely inexperienced). I took my jeep the other day to the dealer to change my transmission fluid and drain the torque converter an replace a valve by the fuel filter and it was $230. So now I figured from here on out I'm going to do myself with the help of this forum.
I currently have a idle problem. Anytime I put my jeep in park or at a stop light my idle will go from 500rpm to 1000 and just keep going up and down like im revving it up or something. From what I've read it might be the IAC. how much is that to replace?
Thanks For Reading Everyone!

They're both pretty inexpensive to fix.
Hope this helps you out,

Hey Seth. Read this and it will tell you how to check to see if there's any trouble codes stored on your WJ. >http://www.wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm
There's also lots of other useful info about the WJ on that site.
If it is the IAC, it's not that hard or expensive for you to replace it yourself. You should get yourself a repair manual, it's required when owning a Jeep.

Hey Seth, welcome to the site. It may be your IAC that's giving you an erratic idle or, if the Jeep tends to surge and leap forward while it's in gear and your waiting at a red light or something, that may be the EGR valve.
They're both pretty inexpensive to fix.
Hope this helps you out,
Tony

So this may not apply here but it might help lol.
Your idle problem is called "hunting" to most mechanics.
In the past other that the iac I've seen coolant temp sensors for the ecu and cheap gas cause it. Best advise I can give is try premium gas once and if no difference search for an ohms test online for the coolant temp sensor
pieced together on my iPhone using all the extra parts from my cherokee...
