I just bought a weekend wheeler project 87 xj 6cyl. Its stock right now. Where sould i start to get it trailready? The obvious lift and tires?

Welcome , from Maryland. First thing is to go out and wheel it stock. See if you really like it. If not, you won't lose any real money. It's hard to sell it after mods and make money. If you do like it, then, it all depends on what terrain you're planning on riding? Rocky stuff, Armor and lockers. Nothing like watching others climbing trails while you set and watch because you don't have any lockers. Take your time and get the lift you want. It may seem like a lot of money, but, you'll end up spending more in the long run if you keep changing it for a differant/higher lift.

Sorry its actually a 88. But here is a pic. Just got done ripping the carpet out today and doin the master cylinder.

Yea the paint didnt really matter much to me. I figure its gonna get some rock love sometime anyway
