Hi everyone, this is Tom. I recently joined after lurking in the background and reading a lot of old posts. I'm an automotive instructor at a college, and specialize in Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. I do all my own work of course, but like to get as much info from you all that have experience. I've owned a WJ, XJ, TJ, and currently have a JK ****** 2 door, (wife's Jeep mostly). The TJ got a complete frame swap that I never want to be involved in again. Put a lift on and dealt with a lot of rust and sold it when I finished.
I recently bought a 2000 XJ that needed some work on a craigslist buy that I bought was too good to be true. It was bone stock and well maintained but had a few electrical and engine repairs needed. Since the virus shutdown afforded me plenty of time, I spend 2 days detailing the interior since it was used by a maintenance man and was full of dirt and sawdust. Shampooed the carpets and seats and found a few interior items from that local pull-apart and it looks like new. It already has the 15x8 "canyon" wheels on it, and I plan to do a 3.5" lift with 31's this summer and keep it for fun. I got into it so cheap I think it is a great candidate for some off road fun that won't break the bank.
Long 5 month wait for the lift kit. FINALLY on. Tuff Country 3.5", Bilsteins, adjustable track bar, new steering linkage, next up: front locker and rear TracLoc LSD.
