Default Hello from CT

Hi there, just picked up a 2000 2-door 4.0 auto with 114k, no rust, and stock. I had a 2006 TJ I bought new that I sold last year and I always wanted an XJ. This will be a toy and I'm trying to figure out what mods to do first. I think it has a D35 (TJ had a D44) but it came with a factory trans cooler and tow package. Not sure if it's LSD either. Primarily a camping/tow truck for me and hoping to wheel it a bit on my days off. So far I picked up a 4 hole switch panel for cheap and Ill do the high idle mod for the eventual lights and winch. Not sure what lift yet but it needs some new rims bad! Hopefully I'll gain some knowledge here!

I'm thinking 3-4ish but I want drivability first and foremost. Since it's a new to me Jeep I'm going to do all the regular mx to it first, then throw some alloys on it (looking for Alcoas from the 03-06 TJ's) and enjoy it. Then since I'm paranoid about rust I'm going to protect the underside with sliders and some line-x, probably white just a few inches up the sides.

Thinking Clayton but I'm opening up a can of worms. Mod some D44's, go Super35? And I think the front 30 isn't a HD? I ordered the build sheet from Chrysler to see what gears. Fingers crossed for 3.73's but if it gets lifted it's going to 4.10's minimum.

Basically I want a nice mall crawler!

Thanks for all the welcomes! Yeah I'd like to find some places to wheel in CT. I know they have a Jeep show near me in Somers every Labor Day or around then, but I've never been. Thinking about looking into a local club but for now since it's stock there's no point.

It was pointed out to me that I don't have 25 posts and that I can't rightfully sell in the for sale section. I thought I'd update the status of my XJ.

9th post, ah ah ah.

Since buying my XJ about a year ago I've put on about 4000 miles.

I owned an 06 TJ and was/am a lifetime member of Jeep Forum (before they sold the site and no more lifetime memberships are available.)

I really liked the stock Alcoas on my TJ so I picked up a set of 6 for my XJ. 4 for the Jeep, and 2 for my Coleman Colorado tent camper, which will be turned into an offroad camper.

11th post! Ah ah ah! I just love counting!

Also, since I live in CT, I am weary of rust. My jeep is rust free, but had a few spots of surface rust creeping. The drip rails were my real concern.

So about 2 months ago I brought my Jeep into a local bodywork business that's been around a long time. Never had him do any work for me, but for $250 he fixed the rust and blended the paint. Also did a few other things around the body. Looks like it was never there. I figured my time and supplies would be about the same and I know I wouldn't have done such a nice job. Now no threat of rust and since I don't drive the jeep often, it'll hooefully stay that way.

13!!! Ah ah ah.

So now I'm just shopping around for a lift kit. I may piece one together, not sure. I haven't bought tires for the rims because I'm not sure of the direction I want to go. I'm not afraid of keeping the CG a little lower and opening up the wheel wells for tire clearance. Definitely open to opinions.

I'm really not trying to be annoying but for some reason some random member with close to 25,000 posts since joining messaged me twice said that I need to follow the rules. I think I can make it through 10 more posts. I wish I had something more constructive to say.

15th post, ah ah ah.
