Hello to all from PR
Looking to join the Cherokee family within the next couple weeks! Pretty excited I must say, this will be my first 4x4. I've always been into sports cars, my last one was a 2008 Superbee with near 600 rwhp. Had to move to Puerto Rico from Tx, my wife got accepted into Optometry School down here. I have a quick question for the experts out there. I am currently looking at a 2004 Cherokee Laredo 4x4 with 90k miles $7500 and a 2005 Cherokee Laredo 4x4 with 34K miles 10K. Which would be a better buy? I have heard of the amazing longevity of the straight 6 engine, but not to much about the v6 that started to come out in the 05 models. Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome to CF. The '04 Grand Cherokee Laredo was the last year for the solid front axle. That's not a bad price if it has no issues. We have an '04 w/the V8 that we bought new, and it has over 109,000+ miles now. Still runs strong and quiet, doesn't use any oil between changes, drives and rides very nice, Full-time 4WD works well.
The '05 has independent front suspension which would limit ground clearance, and the amount you'd be able to lift it. I have no info/reports on the longevity or durability of the V6. Good price and mileage.
