I've been lurking here for some time now, and I guess I should introduce myself. Just an old guy that loves my Cherokees and Comanches.
My first was a 87 Comanche, long bed. Liked the truck but hated that seat with 1" of foam over springs. After an hour commute, I had spring imprints on my butt.
My next one was a 94 I bought new, the ex still has custody of it and it's crusing along nicely @ 260K miles.
My next was a 90 I drove for a few years, sold it with the idea of getting a newer one, and picked up a 99.
Got my GF a 91 Comanche about a year ago, 106K miles, but the oil had never been changed. Had to fix a blown head gasket and found a ridge about 1/8 thick at the top of each piston, so it needed a new engine. Bought a 92 Cherokee for parts, pulled the engine then stripped it so far that it was only a shell when I cut it apart and hauled it to the scrap yard, in the back of the Comanche. Drove a cherokee in and it never left. I even cut sheet metal to use for patches on the Comanche bed. It's about to get finished, maybe I'll even post a bragging pic or two when I get it done.
Uhhh guess I should add there, if anyone wants some parts off that Cherokee, gimme a yell, I have piles of em. I need to put that in the for sale forum too I guess. Maybe when I get 25 posts, I'll be able to do it. As long as I don't get frustrated and toss em all first to make some room in the garage.
Welcome from another southern Ohio xj lover. I'am located accross from huntington. I have a 99 classic.
Stumpy, ya can't be more than a few miles from me. I live in Burlington, behind the Lowes beside Wal Mart, drive a blue 99 Sport Daily, or a dark green 68 GTX
I'm in South Webster, just north of Wheelersburg. Always on the lookout for parts, and local XJ owners. Looking for louvers for the hood,if you have any advice. This is my first XJ,so I'm kinda lost.
I need to update all the parts, I no longer have any left. Physically I broke down really fast and was disabled from work. I got rid of almost everything so whoever does my estate won't have to deal with them. At least they won't be scrapped Drove this Cherokee into the garage to use for parts on the Comanche. You can see in the following pictures how it left Sawzall is your friend
