Default Good deal or not???

Hi,
This will be my first Jeep, but I want to make sure it is worth the price. It will be my daily driver until my Porsche 914 is up and running again.

Here are the specs:

-1999 Cherokee Sport
-6cyl
-130,000 miles
-ARB winch mount front bumper with brush bar
-ARB rear bumper w/o tire carrier
-3" Skyjacker add a leaf lift
-Eagle 8-hole brushed aluminum wheels w/ 31" AT tires that are almost done. (I will swap the 32" kuhmo MT's on my pathfinder before I sell it.)
-Not a spot of rust anywhere (not under the rear seats, rear hatch, nowhere)
-Body looks great, a couple dings.
-You could eat off the underside (if it wasn't facing down)
-Interior is nearly spotless

I talked them down to $4,800 from their asking price of $5,995
I might be able to get them down another $100.

Thanks.

Considering that ARB bumpers are about 700-800 a piece and the lift is about another 500 it seems to be about right at 4800. I'd offer 4500.

I tried $4400 then $4500 after his counter offer. I have a feeling it'll be $4600-4700 if I buy it.

Thanks for the reply

i would offer $4000 at MOST. its ten years old already with 130k. lift and bumpers don't usually add to a cars value. i worked at a used car dealership for 8 years and been to many auctions. try kbb.com and see what they say.

KBB says about $4900 but I'm thinking about the front bumper being something I'd do anyway and saves me about $900 at least. It does have power everything too. I really can't believe how clean it is underneath.

I forgot to mention the aftermarket eagle brushed aluminum 8-hole wheels with 31" AT tires that are almost done. I will swap tires with my pathfinder and keep the 32" kuhmo MT's.

IMO- It sounds like a pretty good deal... the question is what do you think?

Really, i think that a total rust rust free xj with that few miles is a rare find.

It doesn't seem that you have all that much leverage to "chew" him to down any farther.

Keep us posted!!!

I really like it. I wish it had a bigger lift, but I'm thinking about Rusty's fender flares and trim to fit my 32"s until i can get a bigger lift and sell the one that is on it. Then again, it will be my daily driver for a while and I should stay small til then.

I'm just tired of having a half built truck that is neither good on the street or trail.

Hey, if you really like it, then get it!

I hate to break the news to you my friend, but NO xj is "half built"!!!
They are VERY off-road capable even in stock form AND excellent daily drivers...

My advice... Go ahead and get it and "build" it as your budget allows. Believe us when we say "your stock xj will still get plenty of respect"!

NO!!! I was talking about my pathfinder with a shot suspension. I just don't want to throw the cash at it to get it up to my standards right now til I get my 914 running. I'm not going to join a forum and immediately start insulting peoples vehicles. Believe me, I know that the xj earns it's great reputation.

I just picked up a 2000 Cherokee Sport with 67,000 miles, rust free, excellent condition for $6k. It's bone stock, but the bluebook from kbb.com and nadaguides.com put it at above $7k. So, I think you've got a good thing going if you buy that Jeep.
