Good day!
I am happy to announce I am now a XJ driver as well! I bought my new-to-me 1999 XJ Limited yesterday, I named it "Goldie Hawn."
It is a 110,000 mile machine, interior is nice, some superficial rust on many (many, many)things, but the body is solid. Everything works except the stinking cruise control.
My plans! I mostly ride a motorcycle for transportation, so I figured and XJ would be a great "bad weather/object hauling" rig to keep for days I need it. I need to ensure it is caught up in maintenance, so I will be doing all fluids/new hoses under-hood/ thermostat/ distro cap/rotor/Spark plugs/ SP Wires/ fuel filter/ air filters and then see how it runs. Bye the way, anything you guys think I should add to that list?
Upgrades: I am a freak for listening to music. I even have speakers wired into my helmet so I can listen to music on my motorbike. That said obviously I'll be replacing the stereo with something modern and Bluetooth enabled. I would like to lift it a little, the stock springs are pretty worn out and I figure putting a lift kit under it will fix that as well as replace most any suspension components that could be worn. I might go to a 30 inch tire. Finally I hope to replace the bumpers .. mainly because I am not real fond of color-matched bumpers.
Otherwise I think the machine is in great shape and just plan to be pretty nice to it, maybe go play in some sand/mud from time to time - explore some trails. I'm not real into the enormous flex rock crawling stuff, so I just want a little machine I can bounce around in some. I'm afraid I was always a Scout/ FJ-40 guy when I was younger so I don't know a lot about Jeeps, but I attached the build sheet. If you have a moment and could take a look and tell me how I did I'd sure appreciate it. I'm really excited to learn about the platform and have some fun.
