Glad to be here
Hey everyone,
Just joined the XJ club!!
On Halloween I managed to snag a pretty slick 2001 2DR 4x4 Auto 4.0L Sport with 120k for $4000 from a private party. After test driving it, I knew it needed some work. Some odd sounds, floaty steering, etc...turned out to be $2500 worth.
Although it's a nice picture, there are plenty of blemishes and imperfections in and around the vehicle that I want to eventually work on. I'm $6500 in, she runs super strong, and I couldn't be happier. I've wanted a Cherokee since I turned 16 (now going on 30) but ended up with an Isuzu Rodeo, Dodge Dakota, and Toyota 4Runner over the years. My dad owned an '88 Cherokee and passed it down to my older brother for his first car...Old Blue we called it...and that thing ran for years. Sold it to a young guy with upwards of 200k miles on it and he was ecstatic. My love affair with the XJ never fizzled out so I decided now is the time and made the effort to get one. The market, as you know, is full of dogsh*t XJs that have been brutalized and not taken care of properly. I knew I had to snag this one the day it went on the market.
I'm going to have a billion questions in the future about sounds, repairs, etc. so it's great to be in a place dedicated 100% to the mighty XJ. Mine is bone stock - the only thing I plan on doing is a modest lift, nice tires and wheels, intake, and sound.
Thanks in advance and I'll see ya around!!
