hi glad to meet you
from my experience most any vehicle is worth what you paid for this one (paid a fiver for my waggy and had to put a good bit back into her)
I'm new here to, but having owned just about everything from a '54 ****** to my now current waggy i can tell you that for it's intended purpose the four is ok but if your towing or serious off-roading you are going to want to upgrade to the six at some point (my opinion , but i love inline sixes) however like i said if it runs good and the body is in fairly good shape $500 really isnt much out of pocket for a vehicle anymore especially a 4x4
'course you can go to far i actually owned a 1989 toyota with a 290 horse 302 drove it back and forth to work and it cost me $65 a wk that was 10 years ago
its all in what your going to do with it (just my opinion)

that 4 cylinder is a tough little engine. i've had a couple. even ran one out of oil and it still ran after! its really actually a 6 cylinder with 2 cylinders missing if you catch my drift. great little engine, just a little underpowered. you should have no problems with running bigger tires as long as you gear approprately. have fun with it and enjoy the gas mileage
