Sold my big truck to downsize a little and found a nice XJ. These are really fun to drive.
Bad news is I got an 00, with the 0331 head. No apparent issues as of right now. 154k all looks original.
Should I replace that head pronto, or let it ride?

I'd replace it with a mid 90's head, Idk how you will mount your coil packs though, probably have to come up some homemade bracket or something but i purchased a 2000 motor and the first thing i did was swap out the head for a 97 head i had as a spare. then again you could just take the if it ain't broke don't fix it aopproach to it as well and just monitor your oil and coolant and pick up a spair head to have on hand for if or when that one decides to crack like they are famous for doing.

welcome to the forum
about your head, id run it
dont let your jeep overheat, keep a eye on the temp. keep up with water pumps, and coolant flushes
dont fix it if it doesnt have issues, run it for as long as possible, then when it does go (if it does) then have it fixed right away
i had a 2000 jeep with the 0331 head....i had 150k on it with no issues, sold it to a 16 year old girl b/c in her words the jeep was "awesome"
i still see it in town driving......who knows if the head is cracked or not....either way it was a nice jeep for 150k miles

Thanks guys... I do love this Jeep. I already have a set of 16" Rubicon wheels. I plan on putting a lift on and adding those wheels with some new tires very soon. I will post up pics and start a build thread.
I'm going to run this head and keep an eye on the temp. It hasnt reached 210 yet... always just below it. We'll see what happens!
