Default First time jeep owner

Just picked up my first jeep yesterday. Its a 1989 cherokee pioneer with the 4.0/5spd 4x4. Only has 196k miles on it and runs great. Only real issue is the paint. Probably just going to rattle can it. Already scored a rusty's 3" lift minus the shocks for 50 bucks on craigs list. Hopefully have the lift on in the next couple of weeks. Other then that just going to do some basic maintenance to get it running 100%.

Lots of direct hot sunlight in Alabama. That is the clear coat layer burned right through. XJ's are kinda known for that.

Thanks for the warm welcoming! Looking forward to get this thing going and learning new stuff. I have been a big jeep fan since I was little. Just never worked out to own one till now. I've mostly been a ford owner since I started driving and still am if you cant tell by the ranger in front of the jeep lol.

Welcome to the site. I have an 89 too. Call rough country for shocks, LC arms, and get some sway bar disconnects if u plan on wheeling. Yellow top ford injections will make that old motor happy. And upgrade to an open loop cooling system. Long run you'll be happy u did. And I grab a late model brake booster and master. Those are the upgrades I wish I had started with
